DIRECTOR; Nelvana (Warner Bros./Tim Burton, Inc.)

Winner; 1990 Daytime Emmy Awards; Outstanding Animated Program

Ah, Beetlejuice! This series was where I cut my teeth as a director on the original season's episodes. Loosely based on the original live-action feature, the creation of this surrealistic sitcom for kids with a Tim Burton-esque twist to keep it weird was a lot of fun. Developing the look of the entire project was great, but the real treat was directing and creating the concept for the two openings.

The stories revolve around the adventures of Lydia Deetz, a Goth girl who feels she doesn't fit in with her classmates in the "real world." She befriends Beetlejuice, a ghost from The Neitherworld, who introduces her to the locals, made up of crazy zombies, ghouls, and monsters. The zany antics of Beetlejuice and the other Neitherworld denizens gave us tremendous opportunity to run with our imaginations when making these wild episodes!
